Wait, Wait, Whoa............First try this. Use the sound card detector. 
When you are given the option to test, do so. Now, select , "YES" even 
if you did not hear anything. Now, open the volume control and check all 
sliders are full up and NO MUTE box is selected! This has solved many 
sound problems!
