Well, so much for the new kernel (681)...

The new kernel was installed via yum this morning.  So
I reboot, and get as far as the HAL daemon.  Based on
watching previous kernels boot, I think that's when x
is loaded.  But I never get beyond HAL.

So it is back to the previous kernel, for now.
