if you type ps -x, do you get sthng like this for nautilus:

nautilus --sm-config-prefix /nautilus-vSifdh/ --sm-client-id 
1c0a80005000109990790300000016770003 --screen 0 --no-default-window

The important part would be --sm-client-id, if you don't have that part, 
it probably means that there is sthng wrong with session management. If 
you do then I have no real idea.
