Thanks - will give that a blast.

I have a feeling it might be a compatibility issue - judging by this thread:

backed up by the fact I just installed Red Hat 9 on the machine (a clean
install - again!) without any issues whatsoever.. it booted fine after the
install completed.

I tried removing/reseating the sticks of RAM, trying 256Mb, 512Mb and
various permutations, etc without any success.

I guess I'll have to try FC3-test 2.90 or wait until FC3 comes out to see if
I have any better luck.
