Fedora Core 2 install problem

On my laptop, I an currently running Redhat Linux 9, and was working on upgrading to Fedora Core 2.  However, during the upgrade, I get a series of messages that state:

Bug Assertion (heads >  0) at disk_dos.c:471 in function probe_partition_for_geom.() failed.

Bug Assertion (heads <= 63) at disk_dos.c:476 in function probe_partition_for_geom.() failed.

Install exited abnormally

The odd thing about this is that I am already running Linux on my laptop without any problems that I have not resolved.  I am an experiened Linux user, and fairly knowledegable about installing and working through problems on LInux, but this one has me stumped because it will not allow me to get to a point to deal with the normal Linux issue involved in installing the software.

Any help would be appreciated.
