you can check which DNS are currently in your /etc/resolv.conf while the 
machine is surfing on the internet (if you want to fix them).
It is not clear to me why it is not surfing if you fix only the IP .... 
because I understand that now you are getting DNS from your router.

Note: my previous post referred to a routing made with a Linux box (i.e. 
two network interface) and doesn't apply to your layout
