md5sum

I plan to load fedora my pc.  I have already downloaded the four disc.  The
instructions state:

After downloading the ISO images, check the MD5 checksums for the ISO images
to ensure that your download was successful. Do this by running the md5sum
program from a shell prompt against your ISO images and comparing the values
returned against the ones published by Red Hat. The file from Red Hat
containing the official md5sum values is called MD5SUM and is located in the
same directory as the ISO images on the FTP site.

My problem is that the instructions say to run the md5sum program from a
shell prompt.  First, the instructions don't tell me where to get the md5sum
program - only how to get the file containing the md5sum values.  Second, is
a shell prompt the same as a command prompt in Windows? I am currently using
Windows 2K.
