Updating the BIOS in a Dell workstation, laptop, or desktop

Hi guys,

Somebody complained in one of the mails in the last few days that they couldn't update the BIOS on a Dell machine as only Windows EXE's are provided and their machine wasn't dual boot. Unfortunately this is true; at the moment the only Linux-executable BIOS updates on Dell machines are for PowerEdge servers. 

Fortunately, John Hull of Dell has a solution:

This program can be used to create a bootable floppy (among other methods) on your Linux machine using the Windows EXE file and update your BIOS, and is pretty straightforward.
