cant mount drive

I have an internal IDE CDRW.

cat /proc/ide/hdc/* > hdc.info
-bash: hdc.info: No such file or directory

so i went into proc/ide/hdc and these were the contents

capacity  driver  identify  media  model  settings

i'm not sure where hdc.info would be .

since i cant seem to cat that i'll try adding that now and just see if that works.
