Perphaps you have unistalled a theme component.
I think  the best choice is to login as root with a emergency shell and 
start the internet connection.
I think you have the apt-get suite.
Try searching themes , blucurve or similar, and try updating or 
installing such componets.
Are  you using gnome?? or kde??... Let's try updating or reinstalling a 
component of such enviroment of high relevance.(try try try)
Perphaps , thanks to dependencies you'll retrieve the files or component 
you need.
After this,Simple try  loging again.
And if it fails,try  adding other packets.

man apt-get

see: apt-cache search

and other issues.
