Don't know what you did with your Samba configuration. Use this as the
"global" part in /etc/samba/smb.conf (move and backup yours):
[global]
workgroup = LGI
server string = Samba Server on Alloy
hosts allow = 192.168.1. 127.
printcap name = /etc/printcap
load printers = yes
log file = /var/log/samba/%m.log
max log size = 50
encrypt passwords = yes
smb passwd file = /etc/samba/smbpasswd
unix password sync = Yes
passwd program = /usr/bin/passwd %u
passwd chat = *New*UNIX*password* %n\n
*ReType*new*UNIX*password* %n\n
*passwd:*all*authentication*tokens*updated*successfully*
username map = /etc/samba/smbusers
socket options = TCP_NODELAY SO_RCVBUF=8192 SO_SNDBUF=8192
interfaces = 192.168.1.0/24
bind interfaces only = yes
local master = yes
os level = 255
preferred master = yes
dns proxy = no
idmap uid = 16777216-33554431
idmap gid = 16777216-33554431
template shell = /bin/false
username map = /etc/samba/smbusers
password server = None
winbind use default domain = no
[Keep care that some lines may be wrapped in this mail.]
Stop your Samba server before you change the smb.conf. Restart it
afterwards (service smb restart).
