Hi to all.

For the first, I wanna said thanks to who have reply me.
I don't answer at once becouse I think is better try the solutions
replied me, read some article, try to make ecc... and after, if my
problem never-ending ... then send new mail :)

My network card don't work again :((
anaconda (I think is it! who make boot) and "ifup eth0"said "device not present"

Some god man can help me, please ?

I attach information result to my job :
- lspci found
00:0d.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd.
RTL-8139/8139C/8139C+ (rev 10)

- in /etc/modprobe.conf
alias eth0 3c501

- lsmod not found nothing
lsmod not found some of eth0, 3c501 or some other with net do than
specify use of network card

- dirver not found in /lib/modules ...

- this is my ifcfg-eth0
DEVICE=eth0
BOOTPROTO=none
IPADDR=192.168.0.1
NETMASK=255.255.255.0
ONBOOT=yes
USERCTL=no
PEERDNS=no
TYPE=Ethernet
IPV6INIT=no (this I think is off becouse I have write "alias net-pf-10
off" on modprobe.conf - for a problem of SSHD)

I prefer to work with terminal, but I have try to use once
system-config-network.
This prog know my card, but card is deactivated.
If I try to active card, this is the message returned:
"system-config-network:17917): Gtk-CRITICAL **: file gtktextbuffer.c: line 557
(gtk_text_buffer_emit_insert): assertion `g_utf8_validate (text, len, NULL)'
failed"

This card work (if is not broken now!) before have worked on direct
connection onto 2 win2000 and also onto win2000 and redhat 7.3 (this
last not really sure to work well).

Now I work with apache, write something for web, and apache on
127.0.0.1 work well.

My project is a domestic network, and this pc must become a server
machine (for what services I don't know now (DNS, MAIL, INTERNET ...))

I come to Windows world, and Linux is to me hard to understand.

NB
all operation are executed with root.

Sorry for the long mail
Thank in advantage for any answer
and sorry for my english.

bye by fellons
