Doug,

As I recall the PS/2 would be the "inline" one that goes between the
keyboard...

I'm using the USB one on a laptop and been real happy with it.  It is
tempermental sometimes on actually scanning the number (I began to
understand what the folks at the supermarket have to deal with), but
ultimately works real well once I re-obtain the "scanning technique"...
