IMHO, it's probably the best single desktop reference to basic Linux, and
should be on every Linux user's bookshelf. But it isn't a textbook --
O'Reilly's Running Linux would be a better choice for that. Both do have some
shortcomings, however. First -- as with all deadtree publications -- they
can't cover the Hot New Stuff because of the long lead times inherent in book
publishing. Also, they don't cover much distribution-specific material. For
example, don't go looking in Nutshell about yum. For that kind of material,
it _might_ be worthwhile to consider one of the more specialized titles such
as Sams' Fedora Unleased series. Again, though, you will run into the lead
time problem. Oh wait, that's why we have a mailing list and archives, and
the excellent online sources recommended by Stuart Sears in his post.
