I think I've almost figured it out, if I boot with the initlevel set
to 3 and then startx from the command line everything works fine,
however when I boot with initlevel 5 I have the display problems. So
obviously it's a service that only runs at init 5, is there an easy
way to figure this out? The other thing I forgot to mention is that
I'm using the nvidia-glx.rpm from livna.org does this affect anything?
 Thanks for any pointers or help....

Chris

I'm planning on having clamav scan mail on my mail server so as to protect
my windows clients, but it sounded like clam av is meant for scanning a
Linux box, as opposed to scanning e-mail passing through a server.Am I
wrong?

As to why authors of worms and the like to attack Windows:

I feel its because of Bill Gates' stance and 'bad guy' image in the way MS
has been forcing its competition out of business or face being bought up buy

him.

    Is there any software available for application deployment- both linux
and windows. I would like to install packages from master to all the
clients.

Hrm...I believe my friend was using two seperate video cards. One AGP
and one PCI of course. I think his AGP has dual outputs (one is a
TV-out), but he could never get that to work....

It was not my intention to offend any section of the Tech population
nor divide them on the basis of gender. Such a group does exist in
KDE and if Fedora had one i wanted to join it :-) that's all.

I once went to lunch with my wife and her 3 friends from work, 1/2 way
through I said to myself "Man, women are weird, I'd never noticed that
before." I had to say it to myself as there was no pause in the hour +
long conversation. At least there's a 2 second pause on an audio CD.

Kali, start one! I don't know how you would but get a hold of Red Hat
and see what they say. I play ice hockey every week, and if you were in
the locker room before the game I'm sure you would say "Guys are pigs
don't they ever grow up?" Answer... sorry no, they just learn to cover
it up better :-)

Actually, I have been running it with a blank screensaver option.
Funny thing thou, I guess kudzu had some problems with the my Epson
Stylus printer and at rebooting time it asked me to configure it.
Perhaps that will do. I just did not thing that would be the fall down
point of FC1.

I'll let you know how it goes.

I can't figure out how to do this: copy (or move) all the hidden files
and directories contained in one directory to another directory.

Is it as embarrasingly simple as I imagine it must be?

In a terminal, just do:
cp -rf .directory /destination.
I cant tell if all the arguments to cp is needed, i have always done it
this way.
In Gnome, chose to show hidden files in the view-menu, then copy as you
do with all files.

James,

you actually have very good field seperators!
Look at this:

#!/usr/bin/perl

$str = "<165>Oct 01 2004 19:57:52: %PIX-5-111008: User 'enable_15' executed
the 'logging trap 5' command.";

$str =~ /^<(\d+)>(.*?): (.*?): User '(.*?)' executed the '(.*?)' command./i;

print $1." - ".$2." - ".$3." - ".$4." - ".$5."\n";

Needs further testing, but it works with your example of the log-file line.

Cheers,
Hannes.

 From the clamav web site "The main purpose of this software is the
integration with mail servers (attachment scanning)."

It can be used to scan samba shares also, to protect the Windows
machines using these shares.

rsync -auvH source-dir/{*,.[^.]*} destination-dir

unlesss, one dir contains the other.

For cloning rather than updating destination-dir

rsync -auvH --delete source-dir/{*,.[^.]*} destination-dir

If a Linux User Group is where people gather to learn how to use Linux

then

isn't a Womens User Group where people gather to learn how to use Women?

Language is a funny thing :-)

People's (mis)use of it is, well, ROTFLOL

Try http://www.linuxchix.org/ to see if they have a local chapter,
and if not, then start a new LinuxChix chapter in your locale.
