I can reproduce this too... Crazy.
Here is an easy fix: Enter 4/6/02 into a cell, then drag the handle down
one cell to get the auto-complete to fill that cell with 4/7/02. You can
now cut & paste 4/7/02 entry...
Very strange...

I am using OpenOffice 1.1.1 that was installed along with FC2. I have a
spreadsheet with a bunch of dates in one of the columns. I cannot get it
to recognize 7 April 2002 as a date. All other dates are fine. Does
anyone else see this? Is there a solution?
