Memory allocation

I'm in contact by mail with maintainer of the module lirc_atiusb because
i have errors loading this module. He asks a question to me and i would
like to submit it to you : 
"I think you need to recompile your kernel yourself.  I don't know why
you are unable to allocate 5 bytes of memory."
What do you think about this ?
Anyone achieve something with this module and fc2 ?
