xmms and visualizations

hmm, it seems that with FC3T3 I don't visualizations in xmms anymore.
first I had to change from /mnt/cdrom to /dev/hdb to get cd's to play,
that's fine, I can change skins, works fine, but visualizations just sit
dormant, as does the little vu scope built into xmms.

anyone else seen this on FC3T3?
