Actually, went without a hitch.. no issues really.. iptables was fine,
grsecurity went in fine, and all and all.. it was painless. Even using the .config from a 2.6.x kernel onto a 2.4.x kernel went fine.

Interesting read, although it doesn't help. Switching to that model makes it
impossible to contribute to kernel development without actually being a kernel
developer (and checking it into kernel cvs). So if you want to write patches
for a kernel, you'd have to basically re-write it mostly from scratch/hacks to
ever get it to work on each version. This method will do exactly what it has
done to the PaX team, discourage them from writing for it.. and forcing them
to write for a kernel on its way to obsoletion. Oh well, it's a good solution
for some, bad for others.

wrong. Debian packages kde which is part of ubuntu repos called
"universe". they arent as well integrated as gnome but works

Thanks for the tip Rob, but that wasn't my problem.
I have also solved my problem. I decided to delete all the related
files and directories and start over and now it works. I think what
happened was that I originally built Apache without mod_ssl and for
some reason simply rebuilding it didn't over write the original build.
Once I deleted the Apache directory structure and rebuilt and
reinstalled everything it worked without a hitch. I'm guessing that I
probably only needed to delete some configuration file or something
but I don't know exactly which file(s) that would have been. It was
just easier to delete the whole mess and rebuild.

My experience is different, in that I see autoresponders send only one
message to each person *per day*. So tomorrow, you could expect another

I am not sure whether this was just humour or If you were really wondering.
The stuff you saw scroll by is yum header files which contains the rpm
meta data used to solve dependencies. Yum downloads header info for
*all* packages in the repositories.
Yum now in fc3/development tree has switched to a new meta data format
and no longer uses header (.hdr) files so this should work much faster
esp if you are on a slow net connection

Thanks for the heads up. I've just built an RPM and installed it.
Firstly, firefox installs into /usr/lib/firefox/ which is not the Fedora
way of doing things -- it should install into /urs/lib/firefox-1.0rc1 or
some such. Secondly, it does not look for plugins in
/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins, which is also the Fedora way of doing things;
I had to manually copy my plugins into /usr/lib/firefox/plugins.
However, more importantly the same problems that beset 1.0 PR1 also
beset 1.0 RC1: namely, you cannot install extensions or add search
engines as an ordinary user.
I'm assuming these problems have been reported on bugzilla.mozilla.org.
It's too late tonight for me to be bothered checking. I'll guess I'll
have a good look tomorrow. In the mean time I might as well report this
to bugzilla.fedora.us.

Hi I finally can install it. After I do ndiswrapper -m it will appear in
network config. How do you set the interface to be a dhcp client using
ifconfig command line? All that I can see it can only set up a static IP.

Hi,
I have a machine running in FC2 acting as a NFS server, sometimes the
machine goes down for an unknown reason, when the machine starts
again, and start the server, the clients can't mount the filesystems
and keeps telling me that the server is down.
Why? i've tried everything i though could solve the problem but the
error keeps popping out.

Probably because the nvidia module is not loaded.
Try to load it manually befor rebotting X.

But the fact that you are able to download a software freely does not
imply that you are allowed to use it freely under each circumstance. So
you should know what license you accept and have to respect.

What you want to do is not safe: windows xp has been installed on
primary master as linux; so every "hard riferiment" (if they exist) on
windows are on primary master: if you switch and they exists are lost;
so DO A BACKUP COPY BEFORE START (i suggest you to do an hard disk image).
If on linux hard disk are any vaft/ntfs partition destroy it or reformat
in any filesystem that windows does not recognize.
If you want to keep them separate i suggest you to boot with the
recovery console and reinstall windows boot loader as primary slave.
After you have to control that the c:\boot.ini file has been modified
for searching windows directory on primary slave: if it don't you have
to modify it.
You should have a line similar to:
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(0)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows XP
Professional" /fastdetect
I suggest you to do a bertpe (http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/) cd and
integrate in it the norton ghost 8.
Then try to boot and if it works you simply have to modify the grub

Hi Jose,
Will need a little more information..
Do you have the service starting automatically on boot, or do you do it by hand?
When it is broken, what do you do to fix it?
When it's been fixed, have you done an lsof -i -n to ensure that the service
is listening? How about a "showmount -e localhost" on the host to see if it
can see it locally?
No iptables issues or anything?
What version of NFS?
Sorry for all the questions.. just trying to think of what it could be.
