The trivial questions first: the cables are proper connected and
undamaged? The second hard disk is proper jumpered / configured as
master drive? Any (U)DMA specific settings in the motherboard BIOS?
Latest BIOS flashed? "smartctl -t long /dev/hdc" and later a "smartctl
-a /dev/hdc" does not report any error state?
