apache (httpd) on FC1/i386 vs FC2/x86_64: 3-8 times as much memory consumption?

I am using the default set of modules that FC1 resp. FC2 come
preconfigured with, I only configure vhosts upon the default config.

Is there such a difference FC1 vs FC2 in the set of default modules
and the thus consumed memory?
