So this should be the right one for your card (basically, it uses a very
closely related interface to the Intel i8x0 sound hardware, so it gets
to share the driver).

Remind me: you've checked that your speakers really are plugged in,
you've checked that *all* the volume settings are non-muted (run
gnome-volume-control, and check both the OSS mixer and the ALSA mixer.

You've run system-config-soundcard as root, from a terminal. (Can you
send us the text output?)

And you're not hearing anything at all?

Have you tried rebooting into a 2.6.5 kernel?
