While you're installing Fedora, switch to another console when the 
partitioning part comes up, and see if you can get the USB modules to 
load manually.

I'm not sure which console has the command prompt, but I remember having 
to do this way back in Redhat 5.2 or something to force SCSI modules to 
load.

Once the modules are loaded, the partitioning software should be able to 
pick up sdxx.
