dvdrip problem

What you really want to do is to link /dev/cdrom to /dev/hdc, ie:

ln -s /dev/hdc /dev/cdrom

Then, if it needs to be mounted (which it shouldn't for what you want to 
do), you'd:

mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom
