Linux text editors

There is only one editor that can compete with BBedit : Nirvana Editor =
nedit

It has standard key codes and has very powerful features.

It's pretty much all I use if I need more than vi/vim, but it can do
anything
you can do with vim and much more.

Nedit is much easier to learn than emacs or xemacs and since you did not
mention emacs, I will presume you have not used it or are not a fan of it.

Emacs can do a lot of things and do them well, but it operates very
differently that the editors you noted, and would require a steep learning
curve.

Best of luck.

There is a fine line between genius and lunacy, fear not, walk the
line with pride. Not all things will end up as you wanted, but you
will certainly discover things the meek and timid will miss out on.
