It is a good idea to but grub on both disks before there is a problem.
When installing grub, you want to have it use the first disk no
matter which disk it is being installed on. That way if the first
disk goes bad and you pull it out (or it just isn't recognized at boot),
you can boot off the original second disk which will now be the first
disk.
