Users and X with wrong timezone settings help

  Similar problem happened to me - what worked for me
  was to (maybe unnecessary) reboot, go to virtual console 
  and then ntpdate <ntp server>

  Then I killed and restarted X via (telinit 3, telinit 5).

  All was well after that.
