Hi Rick,
FC3
Gnome desktop
> fedora uses IIIM

> when your pointer on console
> right click mouse
> select Input method
> select Internet/Intranet input method
> on panel select a chinese method you want to use
I performed following test
$ rpm -qa | grep iiim
iiimf-server-12.1-10.FC3
iiimf-le-xcin-0.1.7-9
iiimf-gtk-12.1-10.FC3
iiimf-libs-12.1-10.FC3
iiimf-csconv-12.1-10.FC3
iiimf-docs-12.1-10.FC3
iiimf-x-12.1-10.FC3
iiimf-le-chinput-0.3-11
iiimf-gnome-im-switcher-12.1-10.FC3
On bottom panel
right click -> Add to Panel -> On "Select an item to add to Bottom Panel" windown, highlight InputMethod Switcher -> Add
On Terminal/Console
right click -> Input Methods -> select Internet/Intranet input method
But there is no Chinese input method available on top/bottom panel.
Please advise. TIA
B.R.
