TO CHANGE SCREEN RESOLUTION

any idea how to set the refresh rate in the system-config-display other
than editing the xorg.conf manually? Mine is always dropping to
sickening 60Hz when I set to 1280x1024, while I know that in Windows I
can get 85Hz for that resolution.
