Problem with X and ssh

I can't find out *why* I'm getting the error: "(gnome-terminal:3021):
Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display:" when using the command: "ssh
user at other gnome-terminal".

I can log in with the command "ssh user at other" but *still* no display
when executing a GUI app. X11-forwarding is set. Firewall & SELinux NOT
running on "other". SELinux NOT running on this box. Firewall is. Don't
this this is due to the firewall.

Any one know how to solve this mystery? Many thanks to who does!
