Bingo! That was it exactly. Now middle click to close works and I
don't get middle clicks sending me to pseudo-random pages.

Middle click to "auto-paste" is a great feature of Linux. I use it
all the time.

Yeah, it makes sense, but I don't like the way it masks the other
features. I usually just hit Ctrl+T to bring up a new tab that has a
blank address bar, though. So, it's not very useful to me, which I
guess is why it is an option :). Too bad the myriad of about:config
options aren't better documented or more readily available. Aren't
preferences supposed to be in Preferences (or options in Options)? :)
