No sound with 2.6.12-1.1372_FC3 kernel

Hi.  
When I installed FC-3 it started with 2.6.9 kernel.  mplayer and xmms both 
would play my mp3s.  I was advised that updates were available and after I 
used up2date, I found I had the 2.6.12-1.1372_FC3 kernel.  But now I have 
no sound.  mplayer, xmms, play, mpg123 - none of them will make a sound.

There is considerable difference between lsmod from the older kernel and 
lsmod from the newer kernel, but if the problem is there I can't see it.

Anyone else have this problem?
