FC3 psychotic behavior

I have a machine that does some weird stuff with the mouse. It is really
random and it was absolutely unbearably worse when I had a trackball, but it
happens with the regular ps/2 mouse too. Basically it is like random
features, like right clicks or something, that pop up at strange times. I
will be absolutely sure that I did not and am not clicking on something,
when my psychotic FC3 box decides to right click or something or show
something. It is not like someone is in there with VNC or something, because
it is always like quick flickers and/or mouse jumping around. It doesn't
seem to matter what I am doing - running mozilla, typing something in vi
editor, clicking around the desktop - whatever. Also sometimes the mouse
jumps around faster than a human could move it around the desktop (KDE
although it happened with GNOME on here too). I haven't seen any compromised
data at this point and I have run chkrootkit and I am reasonably sure that
hacking isn't to blame here, more like an X or mouse problem. Also it is
worth noting that I have had this problem after a clean install with the
current mouse detected and configured at that time. I would sure like to
know what could be corrupted. Does anyone know anything that I can check for
this?
