Problem installing FC4 from CD

I am trying to install FC4 from CD, onto a Linux Certified
(http://www.linuxcertified.com/) LC2430 laptop. I get to the initial
menu where I can select a GUI Interface or text mode. If I select either
of these options, or issue any other command, I get a text stream, which
is to quick for me to read, and then a blank screen at which point the
CD stops spinning. I have to shut the machine down manually from this
point.

All the sha1sum check out.  I have been able to get past this point when
I installed FC4, using the same CD, on a Gateway AMD6 machine. I have
also attempted to adjusted the screen resolution, before issuing any
other command, by the machine freezes up in the same way.
