It's likely that an FC5 kernel RPM won't even install in FC4 due to 
dependencies.

up2date and yum always install kernels so that the old kernels remain 
available.  You can set an older kernel to be the default by editing 
/etc/grub.conf and changing the "default=" value.  default=0 is the first 
kernel in the list, default=1 is the second, etc.
