FC3 panics on dual-core AMD x86_64

So every time I attempt to run an smp kernel on my dual-processor 
dual-core system I get a kernel panic. It's a tyan Thunder K8S and I 
have updated the Tyan BIOS to 3.03. I have also updated the kernel to 
2.6.12smp from 2.6.9smp. I can run the 2.6.9up. Both kernels crash, tho 
in different ways. With 2.6.9 I'd get a traceback. w/ 2.6.12 I get 
nothing much

The question I have is where do I go from here?
