Tape backup using tar

The st module was already loaded so I removed it and reloeaded using modprobe.

I still have /dev/st0, but for some reason I can't write to it.
I'm logged in as root, and the permissions for /dev/st0 are:
crw-r--r--  1 root root 9, 0 Aug  4 17:23 /dev/st0

I haven't rebooted yet since there are still active users. Hopefully I can 
reboot over the weekend.
