No sarcasm intended. My intro to that section was: "For those with
more interest." Presumably, that includes you. Presumably, seeing
more information makes you happier, since you seemed to be
complaining that I didn't give enough.

Umm? Some of the copied file names got non-characters inserted into
them. Like 0xC1 and 0xE1. That, I deem, has nothing to do with
indifference to case distinctions.

Not to contradict what you say. It's true. However...

The woman has only the one computer. It had Windows NT on it.
She is removing NT and replacing it with W98 and wants
eventually to put Linux on there, and make it a dual boot.

In the meantime, she needs to read the data from the NTFS
partition into her FAT32 with W98 on it. I'm just donating
time trying to get her going.
