FC4 not detecting touchpad

Hi,
I tried to install FC on a notebook: a CompaQ R4000
The touchpad is a synaptic one.
It has not been detected by the installer, so that I had to install in texte 
mode (no problem).
But when the installation was ended, it did not detect it either.

Would you know what's the problem? How to solve it?
