Looking at the thread on the bugzilla previously mentioned, it seems
that it only works for some people, and I was surprised at how long ago
this problem started (around a couple of months).

It'll be a while before I can try that. I'm on dial-up, and updating
xorg is quite a bit of a chore that way.
