Yet another feature of backuppc is the ability to manually make
an archive copy from the last online backup in the form of a
normal tar image with optional compression.  This can either
be written to tape, or split into files of a specified size
(to fit on a CD or DVD, for example) into a directory.  When
writing to files, it can use the par2 utility to add sufficient
parity information to recover from some corrupted or missing
files.
