Logical Volume Management differencies between FC3 and FC4?

During boot I get on FC3 following message:
Setting up Logical Volume Management:               [OK]
On FC4 I get:
Setting up Logical Volume Management: /var/lock: mkdir failed: Read-only
filesystem
  No volume group found                             [OK]

Are these two situations in reality the same or do I have a problem with
FC4?
