dvd+rw-format does not complete formatting

Dear All

I am trying to format a dvd+rw with the command

dvd+rw-format -force /dev/cdrom

but the result is

$ dvd+rw-format -force /dev/cdrom
* DVD±RW/-RAM format utility by <appro at fy.chalmers.se>, version 4.10.
* 4.7GB DVD+RW media detected.
* formatting 0.4-/
$

It seems that the formatting process is not completed. Any ideas?
