You could try the vesa driver to see if you could get video working. You 
might also try to install a newer version of Fedora. Fedora Core 1 is a 
fairly old distribution and can only be upgraded through the 
fedoralegacy project which supports old distributions which are no 
longer maintained by Red Hat employees and are usually only supported by 
the community with security updated being the primary pool of program 
updates.

In the file /etc/X11/xfree86.conf is where you would want to change the 
driver from the s3 entry to vesa.
There is a program to configure your display called 
redhat-config-xfree86 that you might run from a root console to see if 
it is able to find your video card and configure it. (I believe the 
program to configure X was called xfree86, from memory)
