Boot failure: /var/lock/subsys and / itself is read-only

Hi,

I started up2date and downloaded all the packages last week, but didnt get
to actually install them. (illness got in the way) Unfortunately a reboot
was done before the packages were installed and now FC3 doesnt boot anymore,
complaining about the root filesystem being read-only.

Any ideas ?
