if /dev/hda2 is labeled as /, then "root=LABEL=/" will be equivalent to
"root=/dev/hda2"
In this scenario, fstab can reference either LABEL=/ or /dev/hda2 as can
the root= line. For cleanliness and to eliminate confusion both should
be the same, but it is *not* required.
In fact I have 2 kernel versions installed. One references the LABEL
and the other references the device.
The fstab references the device.
Both boot perfectly well.
I wager that if you try that it will work for you as well.
