help, I lost my toolbar :S

Right click on the lower toolbar and select the new panel choice. Then 
you have to rght click on the upper panel to ad items to the upper panel.
You could also just delete or rename the .gnome, .gnome2 and 
.gnome2_private dirctories under your home directory an restart X. The 
default ICONs should then appear on the relaunch.
If you are using the GUI filemanager, you might need to right click in 
the pane where the files are listed and select from te view menu "show 
hidden files to access these files and directories.
