The ports only affect incoming connections. If you are not running
servers, close them all. This does not cause problems for users
downloading files by FTP or browsing the web. If you are not running a
web server then close http (80).

Again, I think that the original answer was the correct one but, before
you complain to your ISP, this is a good first step.
