Actually it was your article that got me to try NetworkManager. :)

I find NetworkManager occasionally for some unknown reason won't connect
to my access point.  I still don't understand why the normal network
config does not connect to the AP.  NetworkManager works most of the
time but sometimes it comes back and says that the AP is not available
and it will try a different one.
