gam_server problems with floppy

Hi,
Even though I'm running on rawhide, this has bit me several times in
the past, and although I have a workaround, most users can't or don't
have the experience to use it.
[rms at roque ~]$ umount /media/floppy/
umount: /media/floppy: device is busy
umount: /media/floppy: device is busy
[root at roque ~]# lsof | grep floppy
gam_serve 3467 rms 86r DIR 2,0 7168
1 /media/floppy
gam_serve 3467 rms 87r DIR 2,0 7168
1 /media/floppy
gam_serve 3467 rms 90r DIR 2,0 7168
1 /media/floppy
My only chance is to do something like:
[rms at roque ~]$ killall -9 gam_server ; umount /media/floppy/
But this may need to be repeated if umount wasn't fast enough...
A typical user will be astonished while the file manager complains about
being unable to unmount the floppy with that message. Is it possible to
force gam_server to behave, or is there _anything_ that could be wrong
with my setup that would cause gam_server to never unhold /media/floppy?
